Private Jet Charter from Fort Lauderdale: FXE, FLL & Your Trip

By Matt Caruso ·

FXE or FLL? Which aircraft? Where do you actually show up? Here’s how I’d work through a private jet departure from Fort Lauderdale with you.

Start with where you are, not just the airport code

I’m based in Fort Lauderdale. When you ask about a private flight from here, I want to know your departure address or general area, destination, preferred time, passengers, and luggage. That gives us a better starting point than choosing a jet first.

For the airport, we compare ground travel with the aircraft options for your trip. The closest airport is worth considering, but it is not the only factor. The operator must confirm that the aircraft and airport work for the itinerary.

Fort Lauderdale and nearby airport options

Airports to consider for a South Florida charter request
AirportWhat to knowWhat we check for your trip
Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE)A city-owned general aviation airport serving air charter and corporate aviation, with fixed-base operators.Available aircraft, departure facility, ground travel, and any international-arrival requirements.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL)Fort Lauderdale’s international airport. We can compare it with FXE when planning a request. The proposed departure facility, aircraft availability, and whether it suits your itinerary.
Miami-Opa locka Executive (OPF)A Miami-area executive airport with FBO services and business aviation activity.Whether a Miami-area departure fits your starting location and aircraft options.

An FBO is the private aviation facility used for services such as passenger handling and aircraft fueling. Your trip confirmation should name the actual facility and address. Do not head to an airline terminal unless that is specifically part of your instructions.

Choose the aircraft around the people and luggage

Passenger count is only the beginning. Tell me about large suitcases, golf clubs, strollers, pets, and any cabin needs. A seat count does not tell you whether everything comfortably fits.

Then we compare the route, cabin, luggage capacity, and whether the proposed aircraft can make the trip as planned. Any fuel stop or operational limitation needs to be part of that conversation. The operating carrier confirms the flight’s operational details.

For a short business trip, convenience may be the priority. For a longer family flight, cabin room and luggage may matter more. You do not need to know the model names to explain what you need.

What I need to plan a departure

Before departure, confirm the facility address, arrival instructions, passenger details, luggage arrangements, and the operating carrier. Keep your point of contact handy if the itinerary changes.

What does a flight from Fort Lauderdale cost?

The price depends on the route, aircraft, dates, availability, and the details of the itinerary. Send those first and compare a complete trip quote. The charter cost guide explains what to check before you approve.

If you make recurring trips from South Florida, it is also worth comparing charter with a card using those same itineraries. Read jet card vs. charter for the questions to ask.
